Community-Based Research

Community-based research is a crucial aspect of UCI CSH. To ensure that translational studies have an impact on the community, we aim to develop innovative and timely interventions that are acceptable to those most affected. We collaborate with community stakeholders such as Madres en Acción and Corazones Unidos Por Una Vida to foster partnerships that emphasize input from both community members and university researchers.

Through our commitment, we have developed a culturally adapted mHealth intervention that aims to reduce postoperative pain and preoperative anxiety in Latinx children and their families who are undergoing outpatient elective surgery. Additionally, we have created a culturally relevant intervention to decrease stress and improve the quality of life for low-income Latino caregivers of children diagnosed with cancer.
